Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University formed in 1918 is based in Tbilisi in Georgia. It is the oldest university in Georgia, as well as the Caucasus region. 

The main founder of the university was a Georgian historian and academic, Ivane Javakhishvili, alongside several scientists including Giorgi Akhvlediani, Shalva Nutsubidze, Dimitri Uznadze, and Grigol Tsereteli.

The university has five branches in the region of Georgia which include six faculties – including law, economics and business, humanities, medicine, and social and political sciences – 60 scientific-research laboratories and centres, a scientific library, seven museums and a publishing house.

With no central campus, the university buildings are spread over the city. The oldest building is where the administration of the university is seated, while the Pantheon of Tbilisi State University is one of the university's most important cultural and historical places.

The university is affiliated with foreign scientific and educational centres, which include the University of Saarland in Germany, Brunel University in the United Kingdom as well the Association of European Universities, UNESCO, and the Council of Europe.

The Mevlana Exchange Programme aims to exchange students and academic staff between the Turkish higher education institutions and the rest of the world. 

The university offers various performing groups including the choreographic ensemble – a separate boys and girls vocal ensemble of Georgian traditional music, a student theatre and an annual student festival called ‘Eris Khma’ (the voice of the nation) with participants coming from various universities throughout Georgia

Notable alumni include former Prime Ministers Irakli Garibashvili, Bidzina Ivanishvili and Giorgi Arsenishvili, Tamar Beruchashvili, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Ana Dolidze, a notable activist.

Located on the Eveleigh Campus at the Faculty of Science Opportunity to make a tangible difference in advancing sustainable agriculture and soil health across Australia Base Salary $113,400 - $121,054 (Level A) + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The School of Life and Environmental Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Soil Health to work on a large multi-organisation project called Development of a Soil Health Framework for Australian agricultural production systems which is funded by the Grains Research & Development Corporation (GRDC). The project is led by CSIRO with the University of Sydney leading the component on the assessment of soil health using remote sensing. The postdoctoral position will be based in the Precision Agriculture, Hydrology and Geoinformation Science Laboratory (PAHGISL) at the University of Sydney. Ref.: 533921 Work type: Full-time Department: School of Public Health (22400) Categories: Senior Research Staff & Post-doctoral Fellow Applications are invited for appointment as Scientific Officer (several posts) in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Global Health Institute (HKJCGHI), School of Public Health (Ref no.: 533921), to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance. HKU has partnered with International Vaccine Institute (IVI) and The University of Cambridge to establish the HKJCGHI, funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. IVI is a non-profit international organization dedicated to vaccines and vaccination for global health. The Science Unit of IVI coordinates the Vaccine Process Development workstream and contributes to others workstreams of the HKJCGHI, including capacity building. These areas of work are in sync with HKJCGHI activities of the Science Unit in Seoul. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field, with at least 10 years of relevant experience in developing and managing process development laboratories or related manufacturing operations, particularly for vaccines targeting infectious diseases. Applicants should demonstrate good knowledge and relevant research experience in field of vaccine development/production of biomolecules using cell-culture platforms (e.g. viral vaccines), and possibly bacterial- and mRNA-based vaccines including their biology, design of molecules, immunology, microbiology and molecular biology; and knowledge in developing assays for product characterization. Preference will be given to those with experience in cultivation and carrying out purification of enveloped and non-enveloped viruses in vaccine development industry, especially in GLP or GMP facility. Experience in handling quantitative and/or qualitative assays for vaccine development research would be distinct advantages. They should have excellent written and spoken English skills along with good communication skills, a keen sense of responsibility, good organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team. Preference will be given to candidates with prior work experience in vaccine/biopharmaceutical industry, or low- and middle-income country (LMIC) settings. The appointees will contribute to research activities on infectious diseases and vaccines under the HKJCGHI. Key responsibilities include developing and managing the process development laboratory at HKJCGHI, including GLP compliant lab areas, and the research projects at GHI; leading, supporting and co-ordinating the process development of vaccine candidates; supervising technology transfer of vaccine candidates developed at GHI-IVI to vaccine manufacturers; and managing staff and sub-departments in the Vaccine Process Development department at HKJCGHI. Additionally, they will contribute to the preparation/review of research reports, manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, and presentations for scientific meetings. The role also involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders – including researchers, public health agencies, and policy-makers – supporting capacity-building activities and knowledge translation efforts in LMICs. About the Role We are seeking to recruit a Research Fellow in AI for Climate Modelling to become a member of the School of Ocean and Earth Science at the University of Southampton. The successful candidate will be part of the ‘Accurate projections of climate recovery from a combination of historical data, simple models and AI’ Future Leaders Fellowship project, which seeks to develop new modelling methods that combine historical climate data, simple physics-based models, and AI to deliver more accurate projections of how our climate will warm and recover in a net-zero future. As part of this project, you will apply machine learning (ML) methods to discover reduced-order models from data and develop GenAI-based techniques for generating high-resolution climate projections. In addition to developing, testing, evaluating, and iterating the model, you will engage with stakeholders to design user-friendly interfaces that maximise impact. The successful applicant will join an active ocean and climate physics group at the University of Southampton. You will be part of a vibrant oceanographic and climate science community at the School of Ocean and Earth Science and the National Oceanography Centre, working closely with national and international partners. We are strongly committed to developing the next generation of climate-modelling tools. The post is a fixed-term appointment for 36 months (3 years), with the possibility of extension for up to one additional year, and is part of a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship project awarded to Dr Duo Chan. About You Given the interdisciplinary nature of the post, we welcome applications from candidates with a PhD (or equivalent) in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, or climate science with substantial experience applying advanced AI methods to climate problems.
